Internet Ads - Unfair Contracts And Scams.

Beware of internet advertisements. Whilst the majority of advertisements displayed by the major advertisers like Google AdSense are from legitimate businesses offering legitimate products, sometimes the unscrupulous ones get through for a short time. Google does their best to get rid of the unscrupulous operators quickly, but this is not always possible.

Look for the "get rich quick" schemes, "how I made a million dollars in 10 days" and other hard to believe claims. If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably isn't true.

Some of the more prevalent scams at the moment are the various kits, books and software that purport to tell you how to make big dollars by displaying Google AdSense advertisements on your site. If these people are making so much money then why are they trying to sell you the kit? In fact, if it's such a good way to make money then why are they actively trying to get you involved as their competition? Why not just keep it all to themselves?

Yes there is some money to be made by providing Google ads on your site, but there is no quick way to riches. If your site provides interesting rich content and the advertisments displayed are relevant to what your audience is looking for, you will make some money. It's a bit like digging for gold. You try different formats and you keep persisting with your content and every now and then you hit on some little nuggets that bring in a few extra cents a day. The more you work at it, the more likely you are to hit a few lucky veins, but I doubt that there are any mother lodes out there in the world of Google advertising.

Even worse than these attempts to sell you kits, books or software are the ones who tell you that they are giving something away and all you need to do is pay for the postage. Sounds simple enough doesn't it? What can you lose? Lots. These operators usually take you through a little maze with their sign-up form, and they rely on the fact that hardly anyone reads the click-wrap (the "I agree" contract) that must be clicked in order to proceed with the deal. You happily provide your credit card details for the $2.00 delivery fee on the "free" software program that will enable you to make a million dollars in 10 days (yeah right!). After a month you find that your credit card is being charged $100.00 a month or more due to the fact that you "agreed" that the company may add you to their "monthly money making letter" subscription and that you may only opt out in writing with 30 days notice. This is just one example of the many schemes being used. The point is that you should always read the contract before you agree to it and once more - if it seems to good to be true, it probably isn't true.
